6/29/2010- The SeaBotix LBV 300 s-6 has arrived at Nacote Creek lab.  In preparation for the ROV, the RV Gannet has been outfitted with a diesel generator to provide the 3000 W power needed for the instrument.  In addition, a main deck table is being fabricated to stow the ROV, the side scan towfish and to provide support for the ROV cable reel.   

 

 

5/9-5/15/2010- Peter Straub, Tara Luke, Mark Sullivan and Steve Evert attend ROV pilot and maintainance training at the SeaBotix headquarters in San Diego, CA.  Training involves disassembly and assembly of the unit, sonar operations and in water piloting at the SeaBotix dock on San Diego bay.  ROV training pictures and video.

 

 

 

 

12/10/09--- Breaking News

The National Science Foundation has awarded a grant for $120,126 to The Richard Stockton College to enhance research and teaching in underwater technology.  The grant title is "MRI-R2: Acquisition of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) for Coastal Underwater Research" (NSF #0959426) and is directed by Peter Straub, Steven Evert, Tara Luke, William Phoel and Mark Sullivan.  This award will be used to acquire a SeaBotix LBV300 ROV for student and faculty research and in support of the Stockton Underwater Science Learning Community.
